A review of The Peahen by Stephen Eddington written on Monday 17th of December 2012
Went for a quick brunch on 16 December 2012. Quite obvious that the chef did not want to cook the rosti from scratch as he sent the waiter to let us know it would be 15 minutes. 30 minutes later after several "it's just coming" messages from the waiting staff it arrived. When the bill came it appeared that we had been overcharged for drinks. There was an explanation, but given the amount of ice in the glass we were not satisfied with paying extra for having a pint of coke rather than a "standard glass".
It's much better to explain in advance if something questionable is going to appear on the bill rather than try to explain it to the customer after the event - especially if they've not had good service to start with. Matt did refund the extra drinks bill - so thank you for that. .
